"Look, the dance was never important" you say to Alex, "I was just trying to help you take your mind off things after what you did for all of us."
"I just..." Alex stammers a little, "I was never big on dances...I never pictured myself going to prom...and even if I did, I definitely didn't picture it like this!" she says holding up her dress.
"I don't think anyone did..." you sympathize.
"I mean...it's just hard to adjust, you know? The dress, the makeup, the...body...parts. It's just so different..."
"Hey, how about this..." you say, "Let's bail on the whole dance things and just go hang out like old times. We can fire up Halo, or Smash Bros? Heck, we can even go and hang out at the library if you really want to. Nothing's too dorky."
"Really?" asks Alex, with a hopeful look. "What about the dance?"
"Screw the dance. Let's just hang out. As friends."
"What if we dug out the 64? I still have Goldeneye..."
"Let's do it!" you escort Alex out of the dance.
