Time zones? How so?

Well if you are from the East Coast of the USA, you only have less than 5 minutes before the Wave hits your city, but everywhere else has a little bit more time.

According to Wikipedia, the Shift takes place across a full day and not all in an instant.

Therefore if the Shift hit the East Coast at 12pm local time in the US you have 3 hours before the shift occurs in your area on the Pacific Coast.

If you're in another country or place, the time left to find the person or persons with whom to merge depends on how many hours past the East Coast you are.
