“I just wanted to talk, is all.”
“Alright, though usually I don’t do much talking,” she says. “I’m content to just whistle while I work around the house.”
“Riiiight...so Mrs. Blake, are women equal to men?”
She looks surprised you even asked as she begins to cut fruit. “Heavens no! Women aren’t cut out for anything besides housework and raising children. Men do all of the other things. That’s just the order of things.”
Wow...she really believes it.
“So are you the perfect woman?”
“Oh yes I am. Married, a homemaker, and a mother in 8 months! I am a perfect housewife, as all women ought to be.”
“Do you ever think for yourself?”
“Why would I? My husband makes all of the decisions. It’s so amazing to just submit and let the man do the thinking for you. That’s why I never dared go to college....women in a classroom is ridiculous.”
This is incredible...it’s making you kind of hard, actually...
“And how did you meet your husband?”
“High school sweethearts. Our families pushed us to get married, but we were in love. They would have hated if we ended up with any liberal thinkers. Tom and I both agree that men are above women! That’s why the marriage works; we know our roles.”
Her whole life changed...due to one belief.
