You decide that since May is your girlfriend, you don't have any reason to deny what happenned so you tell her the truth. She listens and then tries to understand:
"-So, you're telling me that you gave a magic lamp to my father, that he made a wish that somehow turned him into a girl, called you to get some help and then you made a wish so that he was confortable in his new body.

-Is that true or was it that upon seeing him or her or whatever, you decided that (s)he would do a better girlfriend than me?

-But you said that you wished that (s)he was attracted to you...
-Well... That's because (s)he was attractive and I might have thought that his transformation involved your own transformation. But you're here so everything is fine!
-No! Everything is NOT fine! My father is a girl of our age! How could that be fine?
-Uh...
-We should go after her before she uses the last wish of the lamp."
