“Now Valerie...you are a housewife.”
“I am not a housewife! I am not I am not I am not!” You cry out violently. This might be the most egregious thing you’ve heard about yourself. You went to college, have a great career, and married a man who let you pursue said career. You will never be a housewife as long as you can work. There’s nothing wrong with being one if one is so inclined, but you know you’re cut out for more. You are too smart and too attractive not to be.
“But you are a housewife.”
“I am a...h-hou...housewi...” you sputter, not quite able to say it. You aren’t a full-time housewife, but you only work part-time as a phone operator for the company. Rick is an old-fashioned guy and was never crazy about you having a career, but you loved him too much and you had Alessandra, so you largely shelved your business ambitions and did part time jobs, this customer service one being your most recent. You do most of the cooking and cleaning and shopping because you are home a lot, but you still work. In a way, it’s nice having things be easy, though this isn’t ideal.
“You are a housewife and love being a housewife.”
“I’m a housewife and...oh...I love being a-a housewife...” you say. You did go to college but once everything happened and you got with Rick, you found the domestic life to be so fun! You spent a lot of time around Alessandra and made the house your own little kingdom. You never thought someone as driven as you would like being a housewife, but you ended up really enjoying it for yourself. You are a typical suburban mom, though one with some real brains, grit, and love of attractiveness (that led you to look down on a lot of fellow moms). While you smile at that thought, your outfit becomes what could only be called a “mom dress” and your hair grows longer and gets curly.
“You believe women aren’t cut out to more than housewives.”
“I...I believe what?” You ask, extremely puzzled. Just because you chose and like housewifing doesn’t mean women can’t choose other paths. Of course, women had to make sure they were attractive in whatever avenue they chose, but they can choose...right?
“You believe women are made to be housewives.”
“I believe women are...made to be housewives...” you declare with some hesitation. Sure, while women COULD choose to have careers, they aren’t embracing every woman’s true calling. You knew that being a housewife was the natural path of a woman’s life. That’s why you married young and skipped college. Other girls always found your fixation on being a housewife weird growing up, just like you found their lack of such a fixation weird.
“You believe that women ought to be subservient to men.”
“I...uhhhh...believe...women ought to be...subservient to m-men,” you manage. You personally always accepted your lesser status compared to men and found it to be...just fine! That’s part of the reason why you squashed any bisexual tendencies in your youth so could focus on being as desirable to men as possible. Rick was the perfect, traditional guy for you and he let you become the feminine ideal and raise a daughter to follow in your footsteps.
The man softly laughs as he looks at you looking so domestic in your kitchen.
