“And Vanessa,” adds Kurt. “Valerie here is your second-in-command.”
“My...my what?” Asks Vanessa, suddenly confused.
“Huh?” You mutter aloud. “I-I don’t know this wom-Vanessa! I don’t know Vanessa! I don’t work here!”
“Oh, but you do!” Says Kurt, almost cackling.
Your head gets all fuzzy as Kurt repeats your position relative to hers. Your clothes suddenly change back to your office attire and you remember you do work at YCorp...but it couldn’t be true.
“Valerie is your most trusted employee,” Kurt says.
“Valerie is...my most trusted...employee...” says Vanessa.
“She’s your second-in command.”
“My second...in-command...”
The headache just gets worse and worse until it all just clicks: you do work for Vanessa Temple, and you are in all likelihood going to succeed her when she retires. How you failed to recognize her a moment ago is entirely beyond you. You’re at work, after all!
“Oh...wow...my head...” you say, feeling dizzy. “Vanessa, are you alright? And you, Kurt...what are you doing with my boss? Can you please just...explain yourself already? Please?”
