Relieved, you pick up the pendulum and summon the genie. You, while happy you did not become a slave to the pendulum, have an idea.

“Hey...so I’m sure you are aware of what happened...” you tell the genie. “I wish this thing was 100% guaranteed to work.”

The genie snaps his fingers and you watch the strange rock at the end of the string (which itself becomes a chain) become a more “traditional” watch like you see the hypnotists use in movies and TV. The genie says that his magic guaranteed the pendulum works.
