Losing the will to mess with your friend any longer, you put your phone in your pocket and give her a nod. You notice her exhale a little sigh of relief.
“I’m done, Addilyn,” you say. “I gave you a good life. I hope you enjoy it.”
“You took everything away from me,” she points out, still smiling. “But I’m going to make something of what you replaced it with. I’m living a completely new life. New family, friends, memories, opportunities, everything. I’m going give it meaning. Thank you for being my friend.”
So put off by what she said, you leave in a hurry. Once outside, you take out your phone, put it on the ground, and stomp it until it breaks into a million pieces.
Addilyn…she’s so beautiful now, and she has to be because of you. You took her life away. How could you do that to her?
