“Stop this right now!” You shout, utterly appalled at what Gordon has done to Mei.
Smirking, Gordon looks back at you for just a second. Before you can deck him across the face, he turns back to Mei.
“Mei, dear, Bella is your younger sister.”
“I’m…Bella’s…older s-sister? That…that’s not true…is it?” She asks, her eyes opening wide with confusion. She quickly turns and gives you a startled look, which you return.
“Yes, you are Bella’s older sister,” he affirms.
“I…I am?”
At that instant, your head start to feel like it’s about to split in two. You crumble to your knees, wishing you had just listened to Mei and not him into your house.
“Bella is your younger sister.”
“Bella…B-Bella…uhhh…”
To your horror, your brown hair has turned jet black and your skin has gotten much paler. As you feel yourself get a few inches shorter and notice your clothes change, a warm and tingly feeling erupts across your face. Knowing your appearance is changing, you try to remember what you actually look like but can only remember being… a Chinese girl! Worse, you suddenly start thinking in Chinese, and start to gradually forget who you are. You just remember Mei; she’s your older sister…right?
“Bella is your younger sister,” Gordon says again, this time louder.
“Bella…is my younger sister…” Mei states, letting out a little sigh. She glances over at you and gives you a little smile, and in that moment you just wish you could hug your…big sis?
“Bella only remembers being your younger sister.”
“Bella…only remembers being my younger sister,” Mei says, sounding almost relieved.
Your headache hits a crescendo as the memories of an entirely different life storm your brain, a life where you were Mei’s younger sister. You were always called “Little Mei” by her friends. She taught you how to braid your hair, to put on lipstick, to flirt with boys, and much more. You loved your sister, despite her vanity and your parents always treating her like a princess. One by one, the memories of your old life fade away, until it is all gone…not that it was ever there in the first place.
