She taps you on the shoulder and you turn around.
“Doing well?” She asks.
“Um, no,” you tell her quietly. “Please, like, make me a smarty-pants again and stuff because, like, I don’t want Jo-”
“Are you sure?” Says Bonnie. “Because why would the cheer captain want to be a geek?”
You feel changes again; your pigtails are now longer and straight, you are now wearing heavy lipstick, and your pink crop top turns into a cheer outfit! You also remember cheering for a long time and being a popular girl and you get excited because the football team has a big game tonight, though your happiness fades as your dread returns.
“B-Bonnie...like, please stop...” you whisper, starting to get annoyed.
“Aw, sorry sis. You like being a cheerleader though and that’s the way it always been.”
(Wait, was I, like, about to cry? No way Sarah as if...cheer captains need to always be, like, happy and stuff. Today is, like, game day! I’ll get the girlies to decorate the bleachers and our boys are gonna win and then we are gonna party and then-)
“Hand in your exercises people!”
You giggle as you hand in a blank paper and go into the hallway; math is for nerds anyway.
Thanks to Bonnie, reality has changed. Instead of being the new girl, you have always been Sarah the ditzy cheer captain!
