Stroking his chin briefly, Gordon gets right back to work.
"You're rich," he tells Ms. Wallace.
"I...of course I'm rich," she says, her lips tightening. She was a very successful real estate agent who you know (because she told you the other day) makes six figures. Then again, you aren't sure Gordon knows that, though she is wearing decently expensive clothes.
"Excuse me," says Gordon, taken aback. "What I meant to say was that you were...extremely rich."
"I'm...extremely rich..." admits Ms. Wallace. Her outward appearance doesn't change, but your memories of her rapidly do. She wasn't an agent; she owned her own real estate agency. Her house was a total mansion, the most lavish one in your neighborhood. You always found it so incredible how her ex-husband was nowhere near as rich as her.
"Are you married?" asks Gordon, suddenly noticing the rings on her fingers.
"No...divorced..." she says, slowly. Why would he ask that question? If that pendulum could really do anything...he could make himself her husband! You want to tackle this perverted man to the ground, but you are just too afraid.
"You never got divorced."
"I...never got divorced," she says, rather calmly.
"Your husband is the breadwinner. He's absurdly rich."
"Oh...my husband is the breadwinner. He's...absurdly r-rich..." she groans, her body quivering. You notice her outfit now change, morphing into a sexy white dress with five-inch heels and a matching jacket. Her makeup gets heavier, and her hair is styled differently. The ring on her left ring finger changes into a dazzling engagement ring.
"You've always been a spoiled trophy wife," says Gordon. "It's how everyone remembers you."
"I've always been...a spoiled trophy wife...it's how everyone remembers me..." Mrs. Cox says. You want to correct yourself, since you know that can't be right, but you don't remember her maiden name! It all quickly starts to come back to you: Mr. and Mrs. Cox weren't even your neighbors, their tastes suited for a more luxurious neighborhood. Their real estate agency got your current home, and your family has always been acquaintances with them. Mrs. Cox was...the epitome of a bratty, vain woman who always had whatever she wanted. Her husband was thirty years older than her, having married when she was still in high school. One time, she took you out to the city to get a makeover and buy you any one thing you wanted. You knew she meant well, but her awful personality made you sick. It almost made you never want to become rich, because clearly money made her unbearable to be around. You almost want Gordon to hypnotize her to be a better person, but you know that's not right.
