Curious to see how the pendulum deals with alterations that are inherently antithetical, you decide to make a substantial retroactive change to your stepsister (and one that you are interested in seeing the result of).
“Alex,” you begin, quietly. “You’re a dork.”
Your stepsister shudders at the word. “A…d-dork?” She asks, her lips trembling. “I’m…totally n-not…a dork…”
“You are a dork,” you repeat.
“I’m, like…so not…” she insists, grimacing. Her resistance to such a change is certainly admirable. You decide to swing the pendulum faster, something you noticed Gordon do, and see if that helps.
“But you are a dork, Alex.”
Her face immediately looks confused. “I’m…a dork?” She asks, sounding very unsure. It’s subtle, but you notice some changes start to occur; her hoop earrings and vanish, along with her bracelets and nose ring.
“Yes, Alex, you’re a dork.”
“I-I’m…I’m a d-dork…” she says, the words clearly not leaving her mouth easily. The changes start to pick up speed all over her body. You notice her heels morph into plain white sneakers. Her skin becomes more pale, and of the makeup on her face disappears. Her clothes, previously vibrantly colored, are now desaturated. The amount of beauty she is losing is almost mind-boggling.
“You’re a dork, Alex,” you say to her, feeling her resistance shattering.
“I’m a dork…” she mutters, accepting it far more readily. Her long hair is drained of all shine, and is now styled in two girly pigtails. Her jean skirt splits and turns into jean shorts, while her tank top now exposes her midriff at the cost of growing sleeves below the shoulders.
“You’ve always been a dork,” you tell her, putting the final nail in the coffin.
“I’ve always been a dork,” she repeats in a girlier, less mature voice. Her face contorts into a goofy smile while she fiddles with a pigtail, her life as a popular girl surely gone by now. You wonder about the details of her rewritten life as a socially inept doofus, but judging by her awkward, unattractive exterior, it must have been rough. You feel pretty bad for changing Alex’s life so negatively, but you’ll certainly change her back after you’ve interacted with her.
Satisfied, you lower the pendulum, releasing your stepsister.
