There wasn't much that gave away at first, what was happening to you, yet as you ran down the stairs towards the fifth floor, having at least some breathing time, you noticed that it became more difficult to walk for you.
Nearly you tripped over your own feet, as suddenly your shoe steps didn't match up with how you ran before, yet thankfully a random student caught you from falling. Irritated, you looked up towards him, making the whole scene even more confusing for yourself, yet after seeing that you seem to be okay, he just ran along with the rest of the crowd.
It was then, that you realized that your legs were naked and your shoes had now been of a higher profile. For some reason, not only were you wearing high heels out of a sudden, but as well a long skirt, explaining the funny feeling that you had felt before.
Wait, did that mean -
The downwards spiral of your emotions didn't end here, when you realized that not only you had traveled back to the past, but also seemed to have turned during the process into a highschool girl yourself, probably within her late teens.
Your hair was tied up appropriately, while your skin was smooth and completely hairless, a modest blouse completing your looks, as you took a few moments to look at yourself down in disbelief.
This had to be a nightmare, you thought to yourself, but given your survival instinct and yourself smelling once more the smoke from the approaching fire, you decided to continiue on. This is not how it should end, even if this situation felt completely surreal.
Eventually you leave with the other school students the building, having no idea what happened. To some degree your memories remain, but the shock about the overall situation had made you faint, once you were outside.
The next thing you remember is waking up in an old-fashioned hospital. You were informed that everything seems fine and that your parents have been informed of your well-being. Apparently you were an 18-year old student, who went by the name of Lillian Baker. While you were mostly silent, only nodding on the necessary questions with the doctors assuming that you suffered from amnesia and wild hallucinations, you overheard that while the destruction of the school has been devastating, it seems that everyone had survived the encounter.
However, you were now stuck within the year 1956.
You were luckily not a random person and would have to live with a family, that at least would remember you, even if you didn't knew them at all, but you had not only to master the challenges of the past and trying to adapt towards this new timeperiod but as well the challenges that came with being a young woman, who was at the brink of finishing her education.
A glimmer of a tear formed in your eyes, when you realized that not only have you lost your old life, but might perhaps not even see the future that you were used living up to. Already has the timeline changed by yourself surviving the incident as Lillian.
Thus you couldn't even be sure whether events will play out in the future as you were used to them, your knowledge only consisting of vague stuff you knew about what might happen roughly 70 years later.
