You tell the genie that you know Earl isn't a great person and you're not a fan of him either, but you tell him to not destroy his life. The genie is a little disappointed that he can't punish Earl the way he wants to, but agrees to not screw him over.
The genie snaps his fingers and Earl becomes very calm.
"Um, Earl are you OK?" You ask.
"Yeah, w-what was I doing?" He replies.
"We were talking about the ownership of the lamp".
Earl looks at the lamp, then at the genie, and then back to you. He shrugs.
"Yeah, you know what? You can keep it if you like, I didn't really want it anyways".
You were glad you were able to settle things out without causing too much commotion. You take the lamp and head back home.
