That done with, you head over to Mei and lower the pendulum in front of her, thus liberating her from trance.
“Huh? What’s going on? Where’s that man?” Mei asks, visibly confused.
“He’s gone. I got his pendulum and got rid of him. He was…changing reality it with it,” you tell Mei.
“What? I can’t remember anything changing except for me going under trance.”
“The changes were…retroactive,” you explain. “I was changed indirectly by him changing you. My memories are very fuzzy, but from my limited understanding, you weren’t Asian or a genius before he changed you, and I wasn’t a genius either.”
“And you just expect me to believe that? Give me a break.” She growls. “I don’t care what he did to us; I only remember my life as is and wouldn’t have it any other way, even if it’s the ‘right’ way. And plus, if he really made you soooo smart, why would you want to go back anyway?”
This sass is why you hardly consider Mei your friend anymore. “As much as I’d like to argue that things aren’t right…your point is valid,” You sigh. “If this is the way it is, this is the way it is.”
“Hmph, it’s nice to be right,” she says. “But what are we going to do with the pendulum?”
