“Watch closely,” he tells you, turning back towards Carter.
Still swinging the pendulum, Gordon pauses for a moment to think before speaking again.
“Carter, you’re Chinese,” he tells her.
“I-I’m…Chinese?” She asks nervously, her body quivering slightly.
“Yes, you’re Chinese.”
“No…n-no, that’s n-not true…” she says weakly. As she stands there in disbelief at what she is being told, you notice her blonde hair suddenly turn jet black and grow out down to her ass! What is happening? And why does your head hurt like hell?
“You’re Chinese,” repeats Gordon.
“I’m Ch…Chi….uh…” she sputters, her resistance faltering fast. You watch Carter get several inches shorter and a little chubbier (and bustier), no longer so svelte. You see her face begin to reconfigure itself in subtle ways: most noticeably, her eyes narrow, her lips puff up, her cheeks round themselves out, and her skin softens. Her outfit also changes slightly, showing much more skin: now she’s wearing boots, jeans shorts, and a white crop top.
“Don’t be afraid, my dear. You are Chinese.”
“I…I am Chinese,” she admits in a different voice, submissively. With those words, the changes complete, and Carter looks, well, like a Chinese girl! Sporting a slightly plump figure, she has ridiculously long black hair, puffy lips, cute, narrow eyes, a perfectly-sized nose, and pale, soft skin!
You could hardly be amazed because you were going through a change as well. Your memories of Carter become jumbled like a jigsaw puzzle fresh out of the box. Carter was always Chinese…right? Memories start pouring in, like when she took you to China with her parents last year. You remember always being jealous of her beautiful black hair and how she was bilingual. Carter was Chinese…it was just a fact of life! There was no way she was a blonde White girl just seconds ago…right?
“Very good, Carter,” says Gordon. “But, oh, silly me, Carter isn’t your name.”
“What? It…i-it’s not?” She asks, confused. Her name is Carter! You know it to be true!
“Your first name isn’t Carter.”
“My first name isn’t Car…Carter?” She asks again, still unsure.
“Your first name isn’t Carter.”
She finally gives in. “My first name isn’t Carter,” she says at last. Of course you know her name isn’t Carter (she’s your best friend) but something about that name feels familiar…
“No one has any memory of you being named Carter.”
“No one has any memory of…but that’s not my name…” she murmurs. You’re so confused; why is he bringing up the name Carter? Isn’t that a guy’s name?
“Splendid! Your first name is…Mei,” says Gordon, after some thought. “M, E, I.”
“Yes…y-yes, my name is Mei,” Mei repeats with relief. Of course that’s her name. It’s Chinese, it’s sexy, it’s…Mei. You’ve always secretly loved the fact your best friend had a cool name like that, but part of you can’t help but shake the fact that you know Gordon changed things…
Lowering the pendulum, you stare at Mei, still visibly dazed. Gordon turns to you with glee.
“What do you think?” He asks.
“You’re a monster! I know you changed Mei! I know these memories aren’t real!” You scream. “I can still remember…she wasn’t Asian!”
“Well, she wasn’t in the original reality, but I made it so she always was Chinese, and your memories changed accordingly. She never was a White girl,” he says, all too excited.
“Change her back right now!”
“Oh please; I’m just scratching the surface!”
